Parkes M&D’s latest show, the Pirates of Penzance opened last weekend with two highly entertaining shows. Mr Ballantyne and Miss Rothe star as the eccentric Pirate King and the innocent Mabel respectively, with Miss Harris playing an entertaining and surly copper, Miss Dearden accompanying on flute in the pit orchestra, and Belinda McGrath (parent of Justin Y8 and Miranda Y4) both directing and performing as one of the sisters. Sophie McGrath’s dad also plays a pirate in the show.

Mr Hope saw last Sunday’s performance and highly recommended it. It’s been noted that you’ll never see the same show twice – the Pirate King is known to improvise!

Miss Rothe is only in half the performances, so if you want to see and hear all four staff and two parents at once, book for the odd number dates – this Saturday 13th September, Friday 19th, Sunday 21st or the final show on Saturday 27th.

Tickets can be booked online at, at Parkes Stationery and Furniture (opposite Big W) or at the theatre on Saturday mornings or directly before each show.

Come see us sing and dance before the show walks the plank!
