We had a wonderful turnout to our first P and F meeting for 2017, where ideas for this year were discussed and a draft programme of events was put together. It was great to see some familiar faces and we also welcomed some new faces to the group.

Last year our main event, the biennial Spring Fair, far exceeded expectations with many locals braving the cool, wet conditions to come and enjoy our school grounds and the warmth of our school community. We were able to raise around $11,000 which has been used for a number of purposes, including; extra seating and tables for the children in the playground, Chrome books, which are being used in the roll out of the new information technology programme across the school, robotic equipment which students are already engaging with, and funds towards the library to help set up a new area. We have a busy year planned for 2017. There will be school food days, a trivia night, a pie drive and a lot of other events, including information sessions.

This term, we are kicking off with the 5 cent challenge – this challenge will run throughout March. The idea of the 5 cent challenge is that children bring as many five cent pieces in to school as they can. At the end of March, the class with the most five cent pieces will win a small prize. More information about this fundraiser will come out over the next few weeks. In the meantime, don’t forget to collect your five cent pieces.

Come and watch your children as they compete in the Cross Country race on the 29th March and enjoy a sausage sandwich and some fruit for lunch.

After the special Easter assembly on the 5th April (TBC), the P and F will be selling Hot Cross buns. Without a canteen at the school, these special food days are looked forward to by all the students as well as the staff and they help to raise valuable funds for the school.

Our annual pie drive is being held a little earlier this year, with pies arriving on May 5th. As usual there will be a variety of savoury and sweet pies so get ready to stock your freezers for winter. The pie order forms will be coming out in the next couple of weeks and will need to be back by the end of term.

There will be opportunities throughout the year for you to help the P and F in its efforts to support the school. For the bakers we will be holding a cake stall later in the year and also collecting recipes for a school cook book. We will need assistance on the food days to prepare and sell food and for a variety of jobs at the athletics carnival canteen and the trivia night. If you are keen to be of assistance please don’t hesitate to contact the P and F either through the school or by calling me on 0407 373 783.
