A message from James Simpson and Rachel Thorncroft – 2017 School Captains
Being School Captain has been an honour and a privilege. Throughout the role, we have learned many skills including growing in confidence and public speaking. We have been able to work in a fantastic team which features some of the best minds in our student body. We recognise that as a part of the Student Representative Council we have been able to work with future leaders in our School and in the community. We have also enjoyed leading this group of students, the first Student Representative Council at Parkes Christian School, and working with teachers to achieve our goals.
The legacy that we want to leave behind as we graduate is to encourage students to do their best and that it doesn’t matter where you are now but that you continue working towards being your best self. We would also like to see PCS continue to be a place that loves and accepts people. The PCS community has embraced us and supported us since Kindergarten and although both of us have left to go to other schools for a brief amount of time on our return we recognised the caring and compassionate nature of staff and students.
We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Wynstra for being our Roll Call Teacher since Year 7 along with Mrs Hope, Mrs White and Mrs Cartwright in the later years of High School. They encouraged us, supported us and prayed for us. Mrs Lovell, Mrs Moss and Mrs Pepper taught us in Primary School and we thank them for the impact they have had on our lives, they deserve a special mention here.
We wish the next Captains the best of luck, you have massive, size 9 shoes to fill. Not coming to School every day will be strange and we will miss being a part of such an awesome group of people but we are looking forward to what the future has to offer. Thank you and peace out!
