I love this time of the year! A new school year has started and the Year 7 students are all excited to be beginning the next chapter of their lives. The first day of school brings nerves and excitement, however as the days turn into weeks they find their place and learn to love everything that high school has to offer.
My favourite part of this journey is the Year 7 Camp. Every year we take our Year 7 cohort to Lake Macquarie Cru Camp and what a beautiful place it is. Not only are we surrounded by beautiful scenery but also amazing people who can help our young high school students understand who God is and how He wants to be a part of their lives.
Jesus was a witness to many in His time on Earth. There are many Bible stories about Jesus showing the love of God to others on His travels; the Samaritan woman, the blind man, and the deaf man to name a few. The miracles of turning water into wine, the feeding of the 5000 and the calming of the storm are also stories that bear witness to the wonder of our God.
Every day we see the amazing creation of God, and I get to witness this in our students. I see them helping each other, comforting the sad, helping the lost, even keeping our school tidy and safe. The students of PCS show the love of God everyday through their actions and words and it is a privilege to witness this each day.
Our Year 7 students have come from many different backgrounds, some from the PCS primary school, others from the many other primary schools in our community. All of the students were given an opportunity to know God on the Year 7 Camp and, as a coordinator, it is an honour to see so many of our young people wanting to know more.
I am looking forward to seeing our Year 7 class grow into amazing young people who can show the love of God through everything they do. Be encouraged that your child is growing in a safe, supportive environment, full of people who love them and want them to be the best version of themselves they can be.
Have a great week,
Kristen
