Time is a funny thing. It is the main constant in our lives and in my opinion it actually underpins the fabric of our existence!
Everything we do is tied to time. Everything we do takes a certain amount of time, we buy things to save us time, make our lives more efficient. But nothing actually stops time from ticking along.
If we want to get better at something, it takes time. When we need to grieve or heal from a physical injury, it takes time.
Working with teenagers, I see so many who are in a hurry to grow up. They want time to pass so quickly so that they can finish school, or get their licence, or just start the HSC or electives.
It’s funny how time seems to fly past so quickly for me (seriously, is it actually the end of Term 2??) but can move so slowly for people who are so keen to get to the future.
It’s also funny how when I’m really busy and I need more time, it just disappears, but when I’ve got nothing to do, time just drips like a tap.
However, despite how it may seem, or how I might perceive it, time is constant. It doesn’t change, it ticks along second by second, minute by minute, day by day.
Just like God.
It doesn’t matter how we perceive Him, or if we feel happy, frustrated, excited or sad – God is constant.
Maybe it’s about time to consider making God a constant in your life?
