Anything Can Happen If You Let It!

And just like that, we are halfway through 2025! I’m sure like me you are looking forward to holidays and the chance to spend some extra time with friends and family, and maybe even find some water somewhere to throw in a fishing line!

For the last few years, coming into winter holidays at PCS means our annual production has come and gone. In 2025, that means that Mary Poppins has come to a close. As I sit here writing this article, I still have a medley of Mary Poppins songs running on repeat through my head. The same medley has been known to appear at 2am also!

And with that said, I have a confession to make… I had never watched Mary Poppins until we decided to do it at PCS. I know plenty of you may judge me for that, and perhaps rightly so, but it is what it is. Having been involved in the production, I can now say I know the show extremely well, and can genuinely say I’m a huge fan.

If I’m being completely honest with myself, I’m not sure it’s the actual production that draws me in, but rather, it’s seeing our students bring the production to life. There are not many things that bring me more joy than seeing our students shine, especially when there may have been some lacking confidence in themselves leading into the production.

As Mary Poppins says, ‘anything can happen if you let it’. I’m a firm believer that students will always rise to the occasion if presented with the opportunity and encouragement. The first hurdle will always be convincing students to give something a go, but after that, anything is most definitely possible! There are so many kids out there with hidden gifts and talents just waiting to be discovered, so let’s keep working together to help students discover theirs!

I am so proud of all the efforts of our students and staff to make Mary Poppins a reality. I’m also incredibly grateful for all of our parents who helped out behind the scenes with costumes, props, hair makeup and catering. What an amazing bunch you are. Thank you so much for helping our students shine.

As we come into another holiday period, my encouragement to you is to look for the opportunities to spend quality time with our kids, have an adventure together, play a board game, throw in a fishing line, or just sit and have a chat. It won’t be time wasted!

Thank you again for partnering with us in education, and I look forward to seeing all of your happy faces again in Term 3!

Have a great holiday.

Glen
