Communication With Parents
Open Communication with the School
Relationships are viewed as being vitally important. With that in mind, there is a healthy atmosphere of open communication for parents and students with teachers and with the Principal.
Other communication include:
A weekly newsletter to keep parents informed of news, events and items of interest. This is the major route for communication from school to parents.
Our Facebook page – click here to follow us.
There are two reports using an A to E system which are sent to parents, following the mid-year and end-of-year assessments and exams.
Interviews are held annually, or on request.
Teachers are very willing to engage in informal and incidental interviews but we ask you to make an appointment so that there is minimal disruption to the teacher’s classroom responsibilities and personal commitments.

School Uniform
School Uniform Policy
Correct uniform is to be worn to, at and from school and school activities.
Summer uniform is worn in Terms 1 & 4
Winter uniform is worn in Terms 2 & 3
Sports Uniform
All students wear sports uniform to, and from school on sports days.
Non-Uniform days
Occasionally we have a “mufti” day when students are allowed to wear neat casual clothes provided they maintain modesty, and slogans that are consistent with our Christian values. Students pay to be out of uniform and the money received is given to a good cause.
Full Dress Occasions
Require Secondary boys to wear long trousers, long sleeve shirt and tie, regardless of the season.
* Uniforms are to be purchased from Byrnes Clothing in Parkes

The Principal determines uniform requirements for all students.
Transport
Daily Bus Service
Parkes students traveling to school by bus converge each morning at the bus stop, adjacent to the Parkes High School in Orange Street. A bus collects all students from that point and transports them to the school, arriving at approximately 8:55 am.
In the afternoon a bus transports the students to the bus stop outside Parkes Primary School in Hill Street where they are picked up by town and/or country buses to take them home.
A teacher will provide supervision at the both bus stops each day.
Peak Hill buses interconnect with Parkes Bus Services.
Students travelling from Forbes have access to travel by our private charter bus supplied by the school. This picks up from several locations around Forbes and travels directly to the school. For futher information contact the school office.
Bus passes are required by all students who travel by bus. Forms are available online at the NSW Transport website.
Private Vehicle Conveyancing subsidy is available from the State Government for families who use their car when and where no alternative bus transport is available. This includes the use of a car to drive the children to & from the nearest bus stop (if more than 1.6 km). Application forms for this subsidy are available through the School Office.
