Let’s Play Bowls (select Yr 5/6 Team)

Selected Stage 3 students have been selected to represent Parkes Christian School in the ‘Let’s Play Bowls’ Primary Schools competition to be held at Club Dubbo (West Dubbo Bowling Club).
This one-day event is an inter-school lawn bowls competition for Stage 3 students (Years 5 and 6) across Western Area Primary Schools.
The competition is team play (3 players per team) and students are to wear school sports uniform and comfortable joggers (no heavy tracks).
Game Day: Sunday 4, December 2022
Venue: Club Dubbo (This is an ALL DAY event). All schools need to arrive at Club Dubbo by 8.45am
Format: Open Event for Years 5 & 6 students playing: 2 x bowl triples. Students in each team must be from the same school.
Roll-up / practice session: Available from 9:00am – 9:30am. There will be no roll-ups in starting each game.
Game Format: 3 games in the morning (open draw)
Each morning game will have a maximum of 45 minutes. Games will start and finish by the bell.

Welcome: 9:30am
Game 1 starts 9.45am
Game 2 starts 10.45am
Game 3 starts 11:45am – after which the top 8 teams progress to the ‘Shoot-Out’ format.
Shoot-Out:
Teams remaining enter the ‘shoot-out.’ Teams knocked out will have fun bowls to play eg ‘Spider.’
Each shoot-out game, the best of 3 ends with the first to win 2 ends. Games – open draw.
Final to decide the winning team for trophy, team medals and prize-money
Club Dubbo has donated $6,000 in prize-money, which the winning schools can use for
educational purposes.
Additional Information
Prior to the event there will be some special Training Sessions to acquaint the players with an explanation of the game, and to refine their skills in preparation for the actual competition. Parents will need to organise transport to and from the practices in the event they are held outside school hours and to Dubbo for the day’s competition.
There is no cost involved, and all equipment (on the day) is provided by qualified Club Dubbo coaches who all have a ‘Working with Children’ certificate. Further information will be sent out over the next week or so, including the times for after school practices.
