Primary Athletics Carnival
May 4 @ 8:30 am - 2:45 pm
Our annual school Athletics Carnival is being held next Thursday, 4 May, at Northparkes Oval.
For the time ever, we have split our Primary and High School Carnivals – this is to allow us to run everything for each carnival on the one day, rather than struggling to fit both carnivals on a single day, and having to run some events at school.
The carnival will be held from 8.30am until 2.45pm at Northparkes Oval. All students from K-6 must attend the carnival.
The actual carnival will not begin until around 9.15am, after the buses drop students at the oval, however staff will be there from 8.30am.
Our regular school buses will pick up students from Parkes High School or Forbes and drop them at the oval in the morning. If you normally drop your child off at school in the morning, please take them to Northparkes Oval instead.
The buses will then pick up students from the oval at 2.45pm in order to transport them to Parkes Public School for the regular afternoon bus run.
Parents are also most welcome to attend the carnival as spectators.
Students must bring the following: hat, sunscreen, water, food and/or money for the canteen, appropriate shoes for athletics. Running spikes may be worn during events only.
Students are reminded to dress in their house colours and be supportive of all students on the day.
Students will receive house points for competing and placing in events, and these points will determine the winner of the carnival. Students can also earn points for cheering and showing house spirit, and helping staff run events. These points count towards the overall House Cup, not the carnival result.
A Google Form has been sent out for food orders from the canteen. Some food will be available on the day.
Note: Students must finish first or second in an event, with a competitive time or distance, to qualify for the Zone Carnival. Also, most Primary field events and long-distance races have combined age groups which means that a student may have the best result in their class, but not win the overall event or qualify for Zone.
