Meet Our 2018 Vice Captains

I hope you enjoyed taking the opportunity to get to know our High School Captains Emma and Ethan. As a school community, we have been so impressed with the level of initiative and professionalism shown by all our SRC since their appointment late last term.

Today I would like to introduce you to our High School Vice Captains Isaac and Madelynne. Both have started their year as school leaders with enthusiasm and a willingness to develop their own leadership capabilities. As a school principal, I greatly value students who show strength in character and genuine desire to stretch themselves in leadership. With this in mind, I know Isaac and Madelynne will do a great job. Congratulations again on your appointment.

Have a great week!
Glen

What made you want to be a School Captain at Parkes Christian School?
I wanted to push myself into an uncomfortable role, one that I could grow from and develop leadership skills. In this leadership role I want to improve my public speaking; have input in what happens around the school; encourage others and be a good role model for representing our school.

What do you think are the most important skills a leader must have and why?
Confidence and the ability to listen to others well and act upon it. What is your greatest strength? I am confident in stating my opinions and speaking on behalf of those I represent.

What will be your greatest challenge as a School Captain?
To ensure that students feel comfortable coming to the leaders of the school to talk about problems that need to be addressed or things that could improve or benefit our students and school.

What are your hobbies outside school?
I like to get out and ride and play sport (currently helping Oliver with cricket) and spending time with friends. What are you aiming to do when you complete Year 12? I am aiming to become an accountant with a CPA.

If you could choose to have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Having the force!

What made you want to be a School Captain at Parkes Christian School?
I wanted to do more than just complete my HSC, I wanted to leave school knowing that I helped people along the way and that I made a slight difference, even if it’s minuscule.

What do you think are the most important skills a leader must have and why?
Out of everything, People skills. A leader is meant to engage with the people around them, help them, guide and support them. The key in my opinion to being a great leader is being able to connect and understand people, to be able to understand that everyone has life outside of school and what goes on in their private lives affects their schooling.

What is your greatest strength?
Honestly, I don’t know. I think maybe that I care about people, and want to see them do well.

What will be your greatest challenge as a School Captain?
Probably public speaking, I don’t like being the centre of attention with people looking at me wondering what I’m going to say.

What are your hobbies outside school?
Sports and work, even though work is not a hobby.

What are you aiming to do when you complete Year 12?
I want to go to university and study hospitality, in particular, hotel management. I also intend on travelling.

If you could choose to have any superpower, what would it be and why?
The ability to read people’s minds, it would make life a lot easy when dealing with people.
