Our first ever King and Queen of the Mountain Cross Country Festival was a huge success. Held at Northparkes Oval last Friday, the new course saw students have to conquer the mountain that heads up to Boulder Park, one of the highest points in Parkes.
The champion runners in age group were hailed as Kings and Queens of the Mountain. There were a record number of participants on the day, with more than 30 qualifying for the State Cross Country Carnival being held in Sydney this Friday.
A series of obstacle courses were also set up by the Year 9/10 PASS class under the watchful eye of Mrs Wilson. The obstacle courses were fantastically set up and run, and proved to be a big hit with the students on the day. The SRC donated a $50 Big W voucher for the winners of the Primary and High School courses.
The carnival was another close one, with Discovery pipping Endeavour by just two points – 203 to 201. This means that Team Discovery completed a clean sweep of all three sports carnivals this year, making them the champion sporting house. Well done Discovery!
