Show Week!

Did you go to the Parkes Show last week? Did you come and visit the PCS show stand and say hello? At PCS we really enjoy Show week. As a school that is all about community, it is a prime opportunity for us to get involved in the many different areas the Show has to offer.

I am so proud of the way that PCS families, staff and students were involved across so many areas to help make the show a great success. The show stand helped us to have an obvious presence. Belinda Westcott and the team did an exceptional job once again at preparing the stand. We even won the Most Attractive Exhibit Award! That’s 3 years in a row now! We even had our Moomba aircraft hanging from the roof; thank you Mr Wynstra! It was great having a constant stream of people stopping to chat, play with the robotics, look at the photos and gain a bit of insight into our great school. Thank you everyone for making the stand what it was.

Did you notice the PCS presence in other areas outside our the show stand? PCS students:

  • Hosted guests in the President’s room
  • Set up and volunteered on the PCS stand
  • Competed in equestrian events
  • Performed dance routines
  • Volunteered on multiple stands and exhibits
  • Competed in Master Showman and Junior Showgirl
  • Competed in Miss Teenager
  • Entered and won major awards in a whole host of art and food/produce related competitions

In fact, PCS had more than 50 students and staff enter competitions at the show. I would also like to acknowledge and congratulate those PCS students who have participated in the Peak Hill Show or are about to participate in the Forbes and Grenfell shows.

At PCS we know the value of community and we love working with families to help the next generation appreciate and invest into what we have here in country towns. We are so thankful to have families in our school who are prepared to roll the sleeves up and get in and make something great like the Parkes Show or the PCS Spring Fair happen.

So, thank you to Mr Peter Unger (Show President), the Show Committee and the army of volunteers who made the event possible. What a great opportunity the show provides our students, and all of us to work towards something bigger than ourselves. Let’s see what we can accomplish next year!

Have a great week.

Glen
