This term the Stage 1 History unit has looked at the Past in the Present.
Students have enjoyed spending time looking at things in the local community from the past, that have remained either as a remnant all as a whole in the present. They have also been looking at the changes in technology which have impacted on the way we do things. This has particularly in relation to farming and mining, Parkes’ two major industries.
As usual they have collaborated in small groups to complete activities, including coming up with ways to honour some high achieving Parkes citizens.
Last week students were split into small groups to build (mini) shelters using only the materials we would find in the natural environment, highlighting how things may have been done in the past.
