Finishing with a bang!

Welcome back to Term 4 at PCS! It is quite surreal saying that as it means the end of the year is just around the corner. After all the disruption during Term 3, I was so pleased to have all our students at school as normal on Tuesday, smiling and happy to be back with their friends and teachers. We even had our three house mascots, Leroy the Lion, Emmet the Eagle and Sherman the Shark on hand to welcome everyone back with plenty of dancing and waving.

It is going to be a huge term of events and celebrations at PCS. Some of our key events include:

  • Year 12 Farewell week: 18 – 22 October
  • Year 12 Farewell: Friday 22 October
  • Book Week: 18 – 22 October
  • HSC Exams: 15 – 30 November
  • High School rollover of classes: Monday 15 November
  • A Very Christmas MADD Night: Wednesday 1 December
  • Year 6 Graduation: Friday 3 December
  • Year 12 Graduation: Friday 3 December
  • Whole School Presentation Evening: Tuesday 7 December
  • House Cup Presentation: Wednesday 8 December

In addition to these events, and as restrictions allow, we are planning school camps and excursions, Kindergarten and Year 7 Orientation programs, K-4 Swimming, SRC fundraisers and a host of other activities to make Term 4 fun and memorable. It’s been a huge year for many reasons, and we have every intention of finishing 2021 with purpose.

Underpinning all these events is the quality teaching and learning happening each and every day. I have been so encouraged to see the planning and preparation teachers have put into this term. After five weeks of At-Home Learning, we are making the most of having our students back with us face-to-face, where teaching and learning occurs best. A school just isn’t the same without students and we are so thankful to have them all back.

Having students back at school this past week has reminded me again of just how fortunate we are to be here at PCS. Catching up with our students from Kinder to Year 12 and having the chance to chat only reinforces that this is the friendliest group of students and the nicest school in the southern hemisphere. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Thank you parents and carers for all your effort and support over the past term. I am so appreciative of all you have done to keep schooling ticking along for the students.

Have a great week and a great final term everyone!

Glen
