Senior Sydney Excursion

Our annual Stage 6 excursion was another fantastic experience for our senior students. This year we went to Sydney and had a range of experiences that are simply not possible to have in our local area.
After picking up our half-marathon runners, we cruised into Sydney and visited a Smash Room. This was a new activity for our school and some of the students definitely had a great time taking out their frustrations on old glassware, crockery, 44-gallon drums and electronic equipment. Other students didn’t quite understand what all the fuss was about, but it was certainly a new experience!
On Sunday evening we gathered together in a harbourside park and had a small church service. Mr Westcott led us in worship and then spoke about “High Risk, High Reward” while Mr B spoke about stretching ourselves as we have new experiences.
On Monday morning Mrs Quinn led us on a walking tour of The Rocks before we hit the city and did some shopping. The Lego Shop was pretty popular along with various clothing and jewelry outlets, and the perennial favourite Boost Juice!
In the afternoon we took the ferry to Manly and despite a deluge of bluebottles we had fun at the beach reenacting scenes from Baywatch, Pirates of the Caribbean, Top Gun: Maverick, and Titanic.
In the evening we took part in a professional cooking class thanks to Victor’s Food, and the students split into Year groups to create their own Mediterranean feasts. The food was delicious, but the highlight was seeing the students learn new skills and work as a team in new and exciting ways.
Tuesday saw a couple of physical challenges with a session at the amazing Treetops Adventures in the Hills District, followed by Ice Skating at the Macquarie Centre.
By the end of the excursion there were plenty of memories, many board games played, friendships forged and new bonds made between the senior group.
Thanks to Mr B for putting it together and to all the students who were fantastic representatives of our school.
