Motocross Madness

I hope you all had a nice time over the recent long weekend. For some of our PCS families, the long weekend meant a huge couple days of competition in the world of Motocross! I’d like to take a moment to congratulate Scott Green, Jake Green and Danielle McDonald who competed in the 2019 King of MX NSW State Motocross Championships in Nowra last weekend. What an achievement it was just to qualify for the State titles, let alone go on to achieve amazing results.

The Green brothers placed 20th and 21st in the 15 Years section, while Danielle McDonald placed 2nd in the 12-15 Years category! Danielle’s outstanding result has seen her selected to represent NSW at the Junior Australian Titles in South Australia in September. That is massive!

In talking to the students about their recent accomplishments, what stands out is the fact that they didn’t just wake up one day as Motocross champions, it is the result of years of hard work, training, competing and crashing that has seen them get to this position. It takes sheer determination to compete at elite levels in any sport, and Motocross is certainly no exception. There is a world of difference between riding a postie on the farm and competing in the fast and furious world of Motocross (not to downplay the thrill of trying to harness the massive horsepower of a postie).

Congratulations Scott, Jake and Danielle. We can’t wait to hear more of your accomplishments as they occur in the years ahead, especially for Danielle at the National Championships later this year.

Each student has a different journey and a different destination. God did not make us all the same. What a relief! He makes us diverse with different abilities, gifts, desires and personalities. I wonder what God has placed inside you that needs to be identified and developed? The challenge for us as a school is to recognise these differences and encourage individuality, not stifle it. So whether it’s Motocross, the arts, academia, sports or something in between, let’s work together to help our students unleash their potential, wherever it may lie.

Have a great week everyone!

Glen
